Thursday, December 18, 2008 - That dining companion was to write in a text to me later that day, ‘whatever happened to long lunches like that? Where did it all go wrong? That was really excellent.’ And he was absolutely right, it really was.

I don't really give a monkeys about what the original Trishna is like having no desire whatsoever to visit Mumbai, but on a stand alone basis I enjoyed the London "branch".

The process of ordering smallish portions of pakora, grills, mains and veg didn't feel gimmicky at all and the meal was well paced. A couple of bits were a bit average - the shrimp and the breads - but most of it was good to terrific especially the plaice starter and the fish curry.

Waitress was a bit over attentive on the glass filling.

I popped into this restaurant just last week, more by chance and hence without any of the pre-made judgements formed from its namesake in bombay (I haven't been- can't afford the ticket!) And was extremely chuffed with my find. The food is rich indian seafood with a thoroughly unique twist (cornish crabs, south american beer sit alongside traditional dal and cobra). My favourite dishes were the sea bream and the cornish crab (hmmm) and make sure you treat yourself to a portion of the melt in the mouth lamb chops. The decor gives you no clues to the delicious food that we enjoyed, simple and minimalistic, but that's just it -you leave thinking about the food and not about where you can buy those cool brass light fittings for you dining room! The bill was on the pricy side but the food does compensate (or get somebody else to pay!).

Having read various reviews on how good or bad Trishna is, or what it is supposed to be, we had to try ourselves. In fact, having dined at tristna, we are the ones supporting the view that Trishna London is one of the best, if not the best, Indian restaurants on the market. Food and drink offer; top class and not to forget the welcoming and knowledgeable staff. Would love to see more restaurants paying as much attention to details as Trishna does (e.g. Beer list). Highly recommended to everyone being open minded and moving away from overly heavy and overspiced food. Don't we have already enough of such restaurants?

Despite it being week 1, if this isn't already the best Indian restaurant in London, i will be shocked if it doesn't make it to the top of the tree by the end of the year....fresh produce, a lovely balance of flavours, great wine list and a cool setting...much enjoyed....

awful - my wife and I are devotees of Trishna in Bombay, so were delighted to hear it had opened in London. What a disappointment - it's a bland up-market place which bears no resemblance to its namesake, either in atmosphere, ethos, or most importantly, cuisine. So if it's not a reasonable take on Bombay's Trishna, is it atleast a good upmarket restaurant? nope - tiny portions, mediocre service (by staff who didnt really seem to have much of a clue of Indian food), and unremarkable food, all at hefty prices. if you want to experience Trishna, go to Bombay, and if you want to experience good Indian food in London at high prices, you have a host of other places you can choose from.

I have read several reviews on this restaurant, mainly positive, but a few strange one off negative ones.

Obviously I then had to visit it for myself. One word - DELICIOUS…. Light, fresh and tasty - especially the battered squid & marinated prawns!!! I salivate as I type! I too was with my mother and she was extremely impressed, granted she wasn’t from South India, she was from Jersey and we were in England, so the hats off to the chef for using local produce & seasonal veg!

The atmosphere was relaxed and the staff - warm and friendly… Highly recommended for those who LOVE seafood…

Not a patch on Trishna in Mumbai. Average service and very small portions. Cost not cheap but worst thing are the lousy acoustics. Save some $'s and go to Mumbai.

I was delighted to be invited to this new restaurant for dinner on Sunday night. The place was buzzing and had a great atmosphere. We left the ordering to the very smart staff and were not disappointed. The squid and the prawns were delightful, though the highlight must be the lamb Chops which melted in your mouth. We followed this with the signature crab in garlic butter and pepper ,coastal lamb curry, accompanied by lentils, and spinach peas. The rice and breads were also given.I have not eaten such delicately cooked indian food and was surprised at the flavours .We had beers with food although i noticed that the wine list looked very inviting. For the quality of the food this is good value for the money and will be heading back there soon with friends and family.I highly recommend this restaurant.

Not sure how they acquired the name Trishna .. the restaurant is value destructive to the Trishna brand.

Service was good and I liked the ambiance, but the food was a huge disappointment . The food sadly was very very badly flavoured, these new "recipes" are a disaster. The food is not even in the same realm as what is served in Mumbai.

Very sad as I love Trishna and grew up eating at the restaurant (in Mumbai) so it disappoints me to give this review.

I hope the chef can stop trying to create something new (which is terrible) and use the recipes that have made Trishna famous - afterall this is meant to be TRISHNA!!!!

Andy Hayler - 3/10

Monday, November 17, 2008 - Service was very good, a little pushed at times on this busy Saturday night, but on the second night in operation some tables were already being turned. Overall I found this a very enjoyable meal, with chef Ravi Deulkar taking a lot more care over ingredients than he ever did at Rasoi in my experience. There are some areas to improve, and in general the spicing could go up a notch, but for a kitchen in its early days (and one which experienced a several hour power cut just before service) this was a confident performance. Prices are tolerable given the unusually high grade produce being used.
